Sardinia with The Kids

Sardinia Chia Laguna Resort

We spent a week in Sardinia this summer and it was nothing short of enchanting. Sure, it was as hot as can be but still fabulous.

We stayed at the Chia Laguna Resort, which is a Club Med of sorts. Complete with night time performances, activities for the kids (for extra costs) and a private beach and pool.

Breakfast and dinner are included in room price, but lunch, which we usually had by the pool, was at an extra cost. I have to admit, all these extras made the place seem a little less worthy than your average Club Med. Also, among the cons of the place, is the fact that the pool, rooms and facilities are a bit dated.

Our air conditioning wasn’t working when we first arrived and our safe was broken. However, we did receive a complementary bottle of Champagne to the room complete with a box of local candy. And that’s it for the cons, I promise.

On the up side, and that’s what I’ll write about henceforth, we took a local jeep tour to secretive local beaches, went on a fishing expedition and enjoyed the pool and the beach daily.

We even took the local bus to Caligari, the biggest town in that part of Sardinia and did some site seeing.

Going on about excursions.
memorable vacation

The jeep trip was simply magnifico. It was a four-by-four rough ride, that took us up hills and down to beaches that one can only access by boat normally. The ride itself was complete magical views of the greenery that surrounds the beaches in Sardinia. The ride itself was accompanied by verbal explanations from our driver who is a local tour guide. And if you are ever down there, please do yourself a favor and go on such an excursion.

The boat ride was an entirely different and fabulous experience.

First I have to mention the waters, so clear and beautiful you melt at their turquoise wonder.

Second, again, we visited a few beaches only accessible by boats and went swimming in the clear deep waters of the different bays.

And then came lunch.

It was a whole different level of a seafood meal. An assortment of seafood was

served to the table as well as pasta and salads. We had all the wine we could possibly drink at one sitting and for dessert some limoncello. The latter being a lemon liquor served as dessert in Italy.

It is suffice to say the kids had a blast on both excursions. Moreover, they greatly enjoyed the dance shows at night and the company of other kids at the pool.

It was a memorable vacation, despite its short comings and we will definitely do Sardinia again.
